Contemporary Lighting

No matter what style the interior, contemporary light fixtures and lamps have a great way of fitting in. Here are some new styles that are both illuminating and eye-catching.

Alfa LightingAlfa Lighting, part of Juno Lighting Group, has introduced its Crystal Ribbon collection of artisan glass pendants. Designed by glass artist Chip Scarborough, the pendants are made with a glass ribbon fusion technique and come in three different shapes: cone, bell and ball. Available in blue/green, orange/yellow and purple, the pendants are designed to be used with monotrack, monorail, QJS track or on a monopoint canopy. Specified through Aterra Lighting Design & Controls, Scottsdale, AZ; (480) 368-9955 or www.aterralighting.com.

Boyd Lighting Company   The new Kyoto table lamp from Boyd Lighting Company shines light from both the base and the shade. The lamp, designed by Deirdre Jordan, features a brass base that encases a cylinder of Italian glass, crowned by a white silk shade. You can illuminate either base or shade for ambient light or both for maximum light output. Available through Boyd & Dreith, Denver, CO, (303) 777-4600; McNamara & Hirschman, Scottsdale, AZ, (480) 874-0707; Donghia Showroom, Las Vegas, NV, (702) 258-1616; or www.boydlighting.com.

The Keller ceiling fixture from Howard Lamp Company, designed in collaboration with glass artist Carol Hall, is made with colorful slumped art glass. Each pendant is a custom art glass piece that can be specified in a variety of colors and metal finishes.
