Stone Flooring

Given our Western climate, from dry desert to snowy mountain, and our informal lifestyle, stone is a great choice for flooring, both in residential and commercial applications. Here are some new options.

Durango Viejo from World Wide Stone Corporation is a beige travertine with a Truly Tumbled finish, suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. The travertine, a naturally porous material, is filled with grout during the installation process, imparting an aged appearance. Arizona Tile has introduced Sanya French Pattern, a new travertine pattern composed of golden walnut travertine. Quarried from a bedrock quarry in the Henan province of China, this sedimentary stone, composed mainly of calcite calcium carbonate, was formed in hot springs. Pattern sizes are 12 by 12, 12 by 24, 24 by 24, and 24 by 36 inches. The pattern is offered in a brush finish, but individual pieces of the golden walnut are produced in a polished finish. Durango Noche travertine with a Filled and Old World Honed finish from World Wide Stone Corporation features a 1-millimeter micro-beveled edge on all sides for a smooth finish, and the color-coordinated fill complements the natural hues of the stone. The travertine is honed with a 16-head honing device two times over several days to ensure a smooth surface that will not show wear patterns. Artistic Tile's Fret mosaic pattern is composed entirely of 1.5-centimeter mosaics and features tight grout joints. This series of floor medallions was created via water jet by 7th Avenue Designs by Wave Waterjet, Inc.
