Nuvola.

Imagine looking up and seeing the clouds drifting above. If you happen to be inside, this means you're probably looking at Studio Italia Design's Nuvola light fixture. Designed by Denis Santachiara, the fixture is a suspended, luminous "cloud," made of soft, washable fabric. Four mechanical arms and a small internal engine cause it to undulate gently. Its most recent public installation? The phantasmagorical lobby of the Mondrian Scottsdale in Arizona. www.sid-usa.com.

Borealis.

"When concrete and glass meet" sounds a bit like a thriller film, but that, in essence, is what happened when Albuquerque glass mosaic tile artist Erin Adams and New York–based concrete artist Mark Lacko decided to collaborate on a line of furnishings. The resulting Borealis collection features colorful glass-infused concrete designs that include round tables, vessels, bowls, bowl sinks, mirror frames and square surfaces. Available through Erin Adams Design, Inc., www.erinadamsdesign.com.

Perlick.

For hospitality projects, few designers give much thought to the look of the back bar. Stainless or black were usually the only choices for this functional commercial appliance. Perlick Corporation now offers custom commercial back bars in any finish. Coral or pink, anyone? How about plaid, or something that reflects a brand design? Perlick's back bars are energy efficient, receiving numerous recent Energy Star awards. www.perlick.com.

Alchemy.

Alchemy's new Celestial series of glass sinks was inspired by the cosmos and melds precious metals with glass to create one-of-a-kind patterns. The series includes Aurora Bloom, a pinwheel pattern made with crescent-shaped metal molds; Cosmic Burst, in which glass layers are interspersed with colorful glass pebbles; and, shown here, Aqua Luna, which features circular copper and metallic forms between layers of glass. Available through Euro Bath & Tile, 475 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80209, (303) 298-8453; Santa Fe By Design, 1512 Pacheco St., Santa Fe, NM 87505, (505) 988-4111; Ferguson Bath Gallery in AZ, CA, ID and NV, www.ferguson.com; or www.alchemyglass.com.

Paint Style.

White walls may work for some, but residential interiors are being warmed by new, unexpected bouquets of color. Author Lesley Riva tackles hues and techniques in a fresh way with her new book Paint Style: The New Approach to Decorative Paint Finishes (Firefly Books, Ltd., 2008). With images of cutting-edge interiors, Riva goes through inspirations and glides through color washing, strié and combing. And, yes, she even manages to make faux finishes interesting again. www.fireflybooks.com.

Pavilion.

Richard Schultz's new Pavilion is the modern answer to the classic garden gazebo. Made of stainless-steel posts and beams, the square structure sports pleated vinyl mesh side curtains and top. Get a single 10-foot module, or several to create a larger garden element. The mesh curtains and top also come in several neutral color choices. Available through Gerrity Group, 5193 W. Oquendo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89118, (702) 255-8267 or www.thegerritygroup.com; Boyd & Dreith, 595 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80209, (303) 777-4600; InnerSpace Resources, Tempe, AZ, (480) 298-7318; or www.richardschultz.com.
