Residential Fabrics

Edgy fabrics inspired by cutting-edge fashions. A leopard-patterned sheer. Vintage-style textiles made from sustainable hemp. Fall residential fabric introductions run the gamut of styles and applications. Here are just a few lines that are on the market now.

Who doesn’t want a bit of sunshine this time of year? Scalamandré’s Fall 2009 Collection includes the incandescent and luminously draped silk Kuba in yellow and gold; a matelassé pillow covered in sun-kissed linen, wool, polyester and silk Santa Domingo; and a background of radiant, yellow linen Agios. Available through Phoebe Marsh, 595 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80209; (303) 282-8600, www.phoebemarsh.com or www.scalamandre.com.

Bainbridge Blues’ first collection of coordinated vintage-style textiles in classic colors and patterns is made from 100 percent sustainable hemp. The fabric line is manufactured in Italy, and designed and printed in the United States. Goods are generally 57 inches wide. Residential applications include upholstery, duvets, draperies, pillow covers and more. Available through Egg & Dart, Ltd., 595 S. The late design icon Tony Duquette had his creative hand in everything from Hollywood set and costume design to jewelry and interior design. Jim Thompson Fabrics pays homage to Duquette with Feu d’ Artifices, a reversible silk fabric that evokes fireworks, precious jewelry and chandeliers. The design is available in five jewel colorways. Cowtan & Tout’s Fall Collection 2009 includes a group of classic, yet contemporary decorative prints, embroideries, glamorous silks and handsome textural wovens. The collection includes Belle Grove, a new botanical toile that features large-scale ferns, and, shown here, Evan Stripe, a rustic cotton stripe reminiscent of vibrant awning and ticking stripes. The Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca Collection features a soft hand, luxurious drape and a palette of 66 distinct hues that pay tribute to the varied shades of nature. The textiles, made from the first clip of the shearling alpaca, are hypoallergenic and can be used for upholstery, drapery, wallcovering and other applications. Available through Town Studio, 601 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80209, (303) 282-8696, www.townstudio.com; JW Harris, Inc., 3944 N. Marshall Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, (480) 425-9393, www.jwharrisinc.com; or www.sandrajordan.com.
